NEW FOR 2024 EVENT
Elimination of "Bonus" Round
We will no longer be playing a 6th "Bonus" round. Instead, the prize money reserved for the Bonus round will be put into a pot to be divvied up between the teams in the flight of the winning team, i.e. the winner of the Shootout. To receive this prize money, the teams must be present at the Awards Ceremony following the Shootout. For example, if the winning team comes from the Pebble Beach flight, the other 5 teams from that flight will split the pot, estimated to be $1,500. Assuming all 5 teams are present, each team will receive $300. The purpose of these changes is to encourage all teams to stay and watch The Shootout. Because there will only be one 9-hole round Saturday morning, the Shootout will occur earlier in the day, and the committee hopes that all will stay and cheer on their friends, family, and/or flight-mates.
Calcutta Auction for Shootout Teams
Following the final round of 9-hole matches on Saturday morning, lunch will be served in the Grill Room. After lunch, we will hold a Calcutta Auction for the Shootout Teams. The maximum bid for a team will be set at $1,000. Any team wishing to buy their own team for the maximum bid may do so before the auction. All teams may bid on themselves and will have the right to buy half their team from the winning bidder. All bids must be paid in CASH at the time of bidding. Please remember to bring CASH on Saturday if you wish to bid on teams.
Five-Hole Shootout
The Shootout will no longer be split for the first two holes. ALL shootout teams will begin on hole #10, playing the customary True Alternate Shot format. The shootout will then go to holes #11, #12, #17, and finally, the remaining 3 teams will play #18. All flight winners and runners-up, plus ties, will qualify for the shootout. This year, the Shootout handicap is set at 65% of the average of the combined team index. For example, if Player A has an index of 4 and Player B has an index of 12, their combined handicap is 16, averaged to 8, and they will play at 65% of their average, or 5. All teams will then be assigned a net handicap played off the low team(s), which will receive no strokes in the Shootout.
